If you take it even one step further and wire your pickup leads directly to your switch leads, and you do not get the clarity or brightness or quality you want, then it ain't the electronics!
I wanted to thank you for your post about a direct path for the sound to travel. I am having a bit of problem with the neck PUP being to dark, and tried your experiment.

It worked out great, and I now have a lot more information than I had before. I am going to make a purchase tomorrow morning to replace the pots and caps in my Epi LP Studio.
