Its super rare to get a bad Gibson SG Standard. Also getting one from 2006 is a good thing, mine is a 07 and it is badass with a very smooth rosewood board that I almost mistook for ebony when i first played it. I threw seymour duncans (59 and Custom 5), installed a 1 meg pot in the bridge and got grover tuners which stayed in tune a lot better than klusons. Other than the information you given I hope you pair the SG with a suitable partner like a Marshall JCM900 or Vox AC30 which is a healthy diet for Gibsons in general.
