Your thoughts
Hello all. I'll just start by saying that I'm a massive noob when it comes to guitar gear - I'm a drummer, so what I lack in guitar knowledge I makeup for in that.
Anyway.. Not long ago I purchased an LP studio (with 498T and 490R pups) and finally realised how horrible my line 6 spider IV was. I can only get it to sound moderately heavy or just clean, nothing inbetween like a nice and simple slightly overdriven sound.
What I'm planning on doing now is selling the line6 and buying a small combo plus a few pedals. My setup I was looking into is in the picture below. However, ignore the reverb and Sansamp (actually, could anyone explain to me the point of the Sansamp? The owner of the setup did mention that the combo was a cheap and crappy one so maybe that had something to do with it) for now as I don't think I'll be needing it just yet. Also note that the big muff will be American instead of Russian.
What I need help with is a combo that would work with this set up quite well. The sound I want from the setup is pretty much a versatile QOTSA type sound... if you know what I mean. I want to be able to play heavy(ish) stuff as well as clean stuff. I don't care what brand it is, I'm not a label whore . Note that it doesn't need to be big at all. The line 6 I've played on for just over a year is only 30 watts and I've been fine with that. It's only for playing around on at home . And as for my budget... It's quite low, so let's not get ahead of ourselves with a $2000 combo
Thanks for the help guys and ignore the fact that I'm completely naive when it comes to guitars, haha. If you need to know anything else just ask
