The new fella from Germany...

Hey,
my name is Philipp and as the Title suggests I'm from Germany.
I'm 20 years old and at the moment I'm studying business informatics in Germany's northernmost city: Flensburg.

My short history with guitars so far:
I got my first guitar (a Yamaha Pacifica 112) at Christmas when I was 12 or 13. After seeing Slipknot's Mick Thompson on Youtube I was completely blown away and just had to have one. Sadly I didn't took lessons, tried to teach it myself on my own and failed quite miserably. I would pick it up from time to time, but in the end pretty much wasted my youth by playing videogames instead of practicing guitar.

The present:
My taste in music majorly shifted from (Nu-)Metal to what is mainly known as 'Classic Rock' I guess. Rather by accident I found the Fretted Americana videos on Youtube 'starring' Phil X. This guy just makes me want to pick up my guitar again and realy start from scratch. He might not be THE guitar virtuoso but the way he's playing with that 'let's just have some fun'-attitude has got something inspiring and motivating to me. So as soon as I'm getting home the next time I'll pick up that guitar, my small Roland amp and start things over. Better late than never. In the meantime I've started on some music theory.

Why I'm here:
A year ago I started to take a look into woodworking and realy liked it. If your work-results normaly only consist out of paper or 1s and 0s on a hard drive, having a physical result crafted with your own hands realy is quite something different. Just satisfies my manly urge to create and craft a little more than informatics does. So I'm basicly here to lurk a bit in the luthier corner, planing my first guitar build for my next vacation in a few months. Which kind of guitar it's going to be wasn't realy a question for me. I hope I can contribute atleast something to this community in future when I will hopefully start my own build thread.

Long introduction, but what's the point of two sentences saying hello and where I'm from.
