Might be a 70's reissue? Only other explanation would be a replaced fret board.

I went into a local guitar store to get my 1962 Les Paul Custom fixed up. They took a look at it. One guy said ,"COOL!" and the other one spent the next 45 minutes trashing my guitar saying how stupid it plays and the design of it was. But we got to talking about how my favorite guitar was the 56 Les Paul Custom and he says," I got one in the back if you wanna look at it. " He pulls it out. I didn't have the heart to tell him it was a reissue from the 70's. The logo was a norlin, and the tuners were gold tulip stock grovers.
