Re: modding the Les Paul Standard

Thanks for the replies guys, the serial number on the les paul is 1008121088,its not embedded into the headstock......more like printed in a gold colour,i know it was made in china as there's a circle sticker on the headstock, some kind of quality control thing im guessing,it says inspected by 37,Gabor,china,the main reason i wanted to find out more about it was mainly out of curiosity due to the few posts on here about fake epiphones and also ive heard of certain epiphones been of higher/lesser quality depending on when and where they were manufactured, but i bought mine through a reputible dealer so im pretty sure ive the real mc coy, another question on a completely different topic .....i always play tuned down by a half a step,im checking intonation off the 12th fret in standard tuning, would this be giving me an accurate reading or should i work off the 11th fret?I dont have a chromatic tuner yet so ive to make do with the tuner ive got,ive set the truss rod as straight as possible while still keeping a tiny fraction of relief around the 7th to 9th frets, followed this up with setting the action just high enough to avoid major string buzz and then checked the intonation off the 12th fret and according to my cheap tuner it was still pretty spot on,it amazed me when i compared my new action to the factory recommended settings that are in the manual and which my guitar had prior as i checked before i done any work on it,they were more or less identical which goes to show just how well they set it up in the epiphone factory,i say this due to the amount of posts ive read before with guys saying how their action on their new epiphones was crap, maybe i just got a good one i will admit that the electronics are definitely where the budgeting is made in comparison to Gibson, hmm this post is getting long i better stop, could talk about guitars all day long, when what i should be doing is practicing haha.....one more thing though, did any of you guys catch the french chick on youtube playing an epiphone gold top....november rain solo, she s got it nailed, really good !
