Epiphone Faded Brown -> Voodoo Refinish??

Hey, this is my first post here, so sorry if it's the wrong section, or if someone's asked something similar already.

But I'm thinking back to seven or eight years ago when I was in the market for a guitar, Gibson Voodoos were pretty popular, but I ended up getting something completely different.
Now that they're not being made anymore, I've decided that I REALLY like the Voodoo, and I want one of my own!
I'm considering buying an Epiphone faded brown SG and refinishing it to give it that darker Voodoo look.
I realize that the Voodoo was Swamp Ash, and the Epiphone is Mahogany, so I won't get that wicked-awesome grain in the finish, but I'm thinking if I can pull it off, I'd at least have a pretty unique looking guitar!

Does anyone know if this is possible? Or feasible?

(I've tried attaching pictures of both the worn brown finish, and the Voodoo finish below for you to compare. I'm not entirely sure if it will work)

Any comments/input would be fantastic!
