Re: Which pro tools package would I need to get started?

That's what I have (minus Pro Tools). I use it with GarageBand, and it works great. I also used to have a Boss BR-532 (the 4 track non-CD version of what you have), and what I love about using a computer with an audio interface is that it's A LOT easier to manage and edit your recordings, since you're not locked into using a small LCD screen that you have to remember how to navigate. I used to have trouble with my Boss recorder if I was trying to go back and re-record a certain part. All too often, I'd end up erasing the wrong track and not realizing it until it was too late to undo.

In fact, a guy who used to do semi-professional recordings back in the 70s was recording for a band I was in once, and he was using the BR-1200CD, and I could tell he was also having trouble navigating around, and I think he accidentally deleted one of our takes.

Using a computer also makes it a lot easier to get your recordings mixed and out to people across the internet.
