Here's an un-PC description of ACORN:

An organization that has played the race card for years in order to lobby money into their corrupt organization.

In fact, you know that bailout bill that failed on Monday? It had an earmark for $100m+ to go to ACORN (and La Raza). These were removed and replaced with more earmarks in the current version.
