Yep, with 2008 came the new & improved "American Standard" series, so the previous models are out. Off the top of my head the updates include:

- A copper bridge block (whereas the old models had steel, I believe...Mexican models used zinc)

- Bent steel saddles (the old ones were steel as well, but with a sharper, more modern design)

- Staggered tuning keys (IE, the G shaft is lower than the low E, and the high E is lower than the G, in order to increase tension on the nut)

- Satin finish on the back of the neck and a polished finish on the fingerboard, with a "relic" style tint. It's not really relic'd, just darker than brand new maple. The older necks were polished on both sides.

- The smaller, 50's style headstocks vs the very slightly larger 60's style.

I don't remember anything else, but I think that just about covers it. Anybody else, please feel free to chime in.

Bottom line is the '08 models are very fine and I'm surprised I haven't GAS'd and bought one already.
