Very good answer. And it makes sense. So, to distill it, to put it in simpler terms...there is nostalgia involved. You get a warm/fuzzy when you hear the songs. They call back good memories of your younger years...a time when you were "taken" by the quality/rarity, etc. of bootlegs, foreign or unreleased songs, etc. etc. Maybe even frequenting used/rare music shops looking for the jewels of your favorite bands, etc. So, Opiate holds a place in your heart where your childhood lingers. I get that. And you're right, if I'm recently discovering Opiate...now that all the "young person's marvels of discovery" are gone from me...I may never fully appreciate it, or at least not until I consciously dig and try to associate the Tool I know with it.
