Rist Guitars Raffle 4 Historically Built Guitar

Update:

The deadline for the raffle is still on February 15th. After that, MLP will not take anymore payments. So, if you haven't bought tickets yet, you still have a chance.

Thank you.

OK folks I have given this some thought. I want to do it.

Here are my ideas on this;

I will do a guitar to raise some MLP cash.

It will be nothing fancy mind you. just a slab of mahogany, a maple or mahogany neck, one pickup (p90 or humbucker), one vol and one tone, and a wraparound bridge.

NO flame top, carve top, replica, Brazilian board, binding or any of that fancy stuff (including old growth wood)

In keeping with the theme of our forum it will be a LP style instrument along the lines of a single cut lp. Think early Leslie West and Mountain.

Just a simple rock and roll work horse

I will photo document it's progress every step of the way and when finished the raffle winner gets it.

Here is the deal;

I am very busy and it may be a while to complete the instrument, and I am sure MLP could use money now.

I want nothing to do with any financial aspect of the raffle, nor do I want to be involved with the raffle itself.

So we would need an outside responsible party to handle that..........sort of like an escrow account. MLP members would buy the tickets in advance and the escrow party would forward the money to MLP.

Any takers???

People could buy from 1 (one) to a max of 5 (5) raffle tickets at 1 dollar a piece for the instrument.

In the end, the winner could get the guitar for a buck, or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5.

Non-winners lost a buck or so, and helped out MLP

Since it is going to take a while to build, I do not want the winner to bust my balls about the guitar being done

I would need other members to be willing to contribute parts and a case for this.

Any takers?

I am contributing my wood and skills and time for this project. I will not make one penny on it nor do I want it to cost me one penny.

In closing, that is my proposition.

Who's in?

Update:

It got me thinking, originally I said no binding or Braz Rswd, Well, I take that back. it will be an "MLP SPECIAL" (Pun intended)

It will be a Special with a brazillian bound neck with "MLP" inlaid at the 12th fret.

I am really looking forward to having Dave do a BCR aged finish. I love his finish work.

I'm excited!

Update:

Alright, here are the rules for the raffle that flick has okay'd. I would suggest this particular post be moved somewhere onto the forums and stickied, y'know for people who haven't looked in this post. But without further ado:

The official Paypal account of the MyLesPaul.com Forums, Roman Rist Custom Guitar Raffle is:

mlpraffle@hotmail.com

As of right now, paypal is the only accepted method of payment for raffle tickets. I will issue a receipt (please allow 24-48 hrs) when payment is made which will be your confirmation of the number of tickets you have bought (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or more). Tickets are one dollar ($1) US each, and you are allowed as many tickets as you would like to buy until the deadline.

When sending me a payment, please send an email to mlpraffle@hotmail.com with your MLP Username, Real Name (or the name on the paypal payment), address, and paypal email address, this way I can sync them up with the paypal account and can mark you as paid.

If you have paid and do not recieve an emailed receipt in 5 business days (Monday - Friday [exc. Holidays]) please email me at my personal account: djwilbanks@hotmail.com so I can check my records to verify. Please, please, please, put MLP Raffle in the subject heading so it goes into the appropriate folder.

If any of these requirements are not met, it is not my responsibility to make refunds or list you as having paid. I must have your name, username, paypal acct address, and your street/mailing address to count you as having paid.

Other methods of payment may be on a case to case basis, paypal is the safest for you, me, and MLP.

You are responsible for determining the legality of raffles/contests in your state/confederate/prefecture/city-state/country/county/province/parish/hemisphere/autocracy/monarchy/dictatorship/theocracy/fuedal government/republic/etc..

Odds of winning based soley on the number of entries.

Thank you and good luck!

Dave Wilbanks aka djwilbanks
