Good guitar but a pickup swap is a must. I can't stand most "stock" pickups. Those CV's come with Tonerider's which are not that great (similar to GFS pickups which I also don't like). So putting some DiMarzio Twang Kings or Duncan Broadcaster in bridge/Vintage Rhythm in neck would bring it to life. If you want something hotter, try the Duncan Little '59 in bridge and the same neck pickup. Or DiMarzio Pre B-1 in bridge with same neck pup.

If you want some boutique single coils I am a huge Fralin endorser/user. I use his Blues Specials in my main Strat and Tele. Best single coils I've ever heard. I want to try his humbuckers someday. You can't go wrong with Lindy Fralin - the guy is a modern day Seymour W. Duncan.
