My oldest played his first actual out of the womb gig with me when he was 7 (on fiddle--he is an amazing natural musician). He just turned 13 and sits in occasionally on guitar but honestly I am grooming him as my regular rhythm player. He and his 10 year old brother have a band so the next generation is taking over as well.

I tried to teach my wife guitar many years ago and we'd only got into it for about ten minutes before she told me I was wrong..  
We didn't speak for about two days and she's never tried since...
