My wife and I have played in bands for years. She plays bass. Both my sons started gigging before they were born (literally). My oldest played his first actual out of the womb gig with me when he was 7 (on fiddle--he is an amazing natural musician). He just turned 13 and sits in occasionally on guitar but honestly I am grooming him as my regular rhythm player. He and his 10 year old brother have a band so the next generation is taking over as well.
