maybe it isn't intonated very well? Or depending on the guage of the strings, truss rod tension, etc., that is how this particular guitar is intonated with those parameters. I have found that each gutiar's intonation is slightly different, even with the same model, same guage of strings, etc. I used to always set the saddles to be in the same place without checking the intonation at the 12th fret because it worked on a different guitar that way. Came to find out very quickly that the distance from the nut to the saddles for each string on the one guitar was perfect; but that same distance from the nut to the saddles on a different guitar did not work....so maybe in the case of this guitar, it actually is intonated prefectly with the saddles where they are. who knows?
