The hard truth is.... it's NOT lost. Dollars to donuts says that some unscrupulous driver, whether OTR or delivery owns a very nice LP. My father-in-law used to work for one of the large shipping companies and he says that's usually what happens when something cannot be found. I don't think the carrier would go to the extent of a cover-up should they find out that's what happened in order to avoid some bad
PR, but they may not investigate all that much either.
Personally, I prefer UPS everytime. Like someone else said.... I see my local driver on the road 5 miles or more from my house and he always waves to me.
