CS ~ For me it's not about affording one.
( Well maybe it is, but in another way" Price of the tapes" )
I've used them forever, but the tapes are a pain in the butt.
They can just stop echoing in the middle of a gig or recording session.
It seems that the tape can only go around so many times before
something happens to the oxide on the tape and it won't record anymore.
It's not like I ever carried one of those huge cartridges with me. If I did,it would get smashed with all the gear being moved around anyway.
Tapes were about $15.00 U.S. way back .
HOWEVER~ an Echoplex is an Echoplex and Nothing can give
you that sound that I love so much
Though the Echo Park is the closest I've ever come.
