I fitted a long switchcraft toggle in my Epi LP. The length of the switch caused no problem and my guitar had the correct size hole (1/2" I think) so no reaming was required. What you do need though, is the deep nut due to the Epiphone being thicker in the area around the switch. I only did mine finger-tight and I have to have the toggle switch tip unscrewed slightly, as if I screw it right down it hits the nut and pings back into the middle position.
