yes thats what i understand, the pups have to be placed extremely close to the strings to sound best....i have to get me the Zakk Wylde LP, but not the Gibson , but the Epi version, had the chance to finally play the Gibson version today and found the neck to be somewhat slow and "sticky', probably do to the finish, wheres as the Epi was fast and silky, again probably due to finish...i find the poly so much better then the nitro...but thats just me maybe....
