Not sure about the US but here in England you'd be liable for import duty and tax on anything imported plus there's the cost of (insured) postage to consider. Taking the '00 LP Plus HB as an example, the 123k JPY is about 1450 USD. To import into UK, duty/tax varies depending on the country of origin but 20% is probably a fair estimate. That'd take you to 1740 USD plus (insured) postage so gotta be pushing 1900 - 2000 USD all in? For a second-hand LP STD? That you've not played?

Personally, I wouldn't risk it. For a rare model that you're expanding your collection with, maybe, but for you first Gibson? Get down to your local shop, play every Gibson they have and they push for the best deal they can offer.

Also, like a previous poster said, if budget is a consideration take a serious look at the Studio range. Awesome guitars.
