Maple, Mahogany, Ash, Alder, Poplar....wait, are you wanting to build an acoustic or an electric guitar? Cedar is pretty common in acoustics but seldom seen in electrics. Come to think of it, no matter what kind you want to build, you're gonna need a couple of different tree types. Rosewood is used extensively for fretboards on either type of guitar. Ebony, too. You're not talking about a building a bass guitar are you?
Bass guitars are, of course only built from the bottom of trees. You can't get that chest pounding THUMP out of anything but the bottom.

I guess to be covered, you're gonna need to decide what kind of guitar you want to build, then plant a tree(s) accordingly.

And just to clarify, don't plant a bent tree. Your grain will be all over the place.
