Volume, volume, volume. For most guys who have tube amps for home use, pics of their gear seem to suggest they live in a house. You'd be surprised at how much the open space between houses in your average American neighborhood insulates your neighbor next door from noise. They might hear it if they walk outside,
might if it's dimed, but not if they're indoors watching TV at a decent volume. You can get away with playing a small low watter tube amp at some decent volumes.
I live in an apartment. I can hear the people next door having conversations sometimes. I have a tube amp, but it can't be turned up louder than TV volume. It's far more fun and satisfying to have a decent modeling amp with cabinet simulation running through high quality headphones tweaked to simulate a cranked tube at and comfortable volumes.
