No actually I agree. My favorite way to play a C and an F is as an add or suspended chord. For a C I play the standard "cowboy" form, but lift my second finger up to add in a D. I also add the G on the E string at the same time. To make an F then I just shift my third finger down a string to play an F. I love the way these open chords ring out. Also, by favorite D (especially when playing in the key of G) is a D chord with an add 4 (a G). I play it by sliding a standard C form up two frets. I like the sound and I especially like it played against a standard chord from. It really fattens things up.
Other chords I like depend on the situation. I do like this cool inversion of a 9th chord that is played without the root on the bottom. It is actually the same chord form as a half diminished--i.e. if I am playing in A, I play the chord form for a Db half diminished with the lower note being Db. In blues it adds in a nice almost hammond organ like sound.
