Makes me very sad to hear of people getting ripped off like this. Both eBay and the guitar companies (all of them) need to do more to educate would be buyers about how to spot fakes. But to be honest, the main problem is that most of us find it difficult to resist a bargain.
I've never bought a guitar without playing it, and can't see myself ever doing so unless, as in kaptinkrunch's case, someone I trusted had played it and circumstances meant that getting a good deal on a great guitar meant trusting their judgement.
But I guess these days more and more people buy guitars online without even having seen them, let alone played them. In those circumstances the best you can do is make absolutely certain that the seller is genuine before jumping in credit card first.
yr99099 you don't say how you paid for the guitar, but if you used PayPal, you should contact them directly and if you paid by credit card, contact your cc company and report it as fraud.
