Re: Does your Historic stay in tune ??
Mine stay in tune and I'm fairly brutal and beat the crap of of the strings.
Personally I prefer Kluson or Kluson style tuners.
Back in the day the original Kluson's left a lot to be desired.
That's why you see a bunch of Burst's with Grovers.
However, today the Kluson style tuners are much better than their vintage counterparts.
The biggest difference in tone would be the Grover's with their added weight(appox.5.5 oz)can add a bit more sustain and more focus to the tone.
I prefer the more airy characteristics of Kluson style tuners.
If one is having issues staying in tune then the culprit is usually the nut.
The D and G strings are the most prone to going out of tune while playing due to their steep angle from the nut to the tuner.
A properly cut nut and even some lube will correct most tuning issues.
Also intsalling the strings properly and streaching them very well should be a given.
