What do you mean by "line in"? Do you mean an Interface to hook you mic into so you can record directly to your hard drive?
I use a Presonus Firebox which I plug my mics and direct 1/4" jacks into in order to record directly to my hard drive.
That is the only way I know of to record a file directly to my PC.
