Classic vs. Standard vintage value, fret size, and pickups

As I posted in another thread, I'm considering selling my '73 Les Paul Recording and replacing it with a more recent Les Paul Classic. Except now I'm considering a Standard, but I'm not sure. Thing is, there are so many different damn kinds of Les Pauls in the stores that I can't keep them straight, and online information is rarely as in-depth as I would like it to be.

So here's the skinny. What I'm looking for is a used Les Paul with: single-ply binding; either sunburst, wine red, or gold top finish; NO flame or quilted maple; small frets; and covered pickups, for around $1200 to $1600. Can anyone tell me what model best fits those criteria, and which model year would be best to seek it at that price?
