Modern/new LPs (even the one-offs from the CS) will NEVER reach the type of $$$$ that vintage (35+ year old) LPs are at, right now. And that's just sad.
The MAIN reasons older ('54-'60) LPs became so valuable were:
- Better construction/better materials/WAY better sound
- They were made in VERY limited numbers, because the builders actually took their time in making them (mostly by hand)
- When they were discontinued in '61 (and replaced by the SG), people feared that there would NEVER be another LP made, so they basically went on wild goose chases to find/purchase ALL of the pre-'60s LPs, which is one reason they are so rare.
The bottom line is: The way LPs (or any guitars) are produced today (in mass-quantities, and mainly by machines) they will NEVER be rare, unless ALL the rest of them somehow disappear (which is HIGHLY doubtful).
