They don't overheat man, thats a characteristic that only a few have. DO NOT worry about that at all (is there a problem with an electrical source?) Seriously thats a non issue. Solid State can be quite generalized unfairly as being inferior in sound. While that is mostly true IMO, not all solid state amps sound the same. And ironicly, wouldn't you think that Marshall and Hiwatt would make the best solid state amps out of the bunch? Well they don't. Don't follow the name. I would look at the Roland Cube, Vox Valvetronix, Tech 21, Orange Crush series, and maybe some Randall (I had a Randall RG100 Stereo Chorus 2x12 combo that ripped! great cleans too!). Anyway, what amp do you really want?
