Thanks. I'm kind of fond of it myself! My wife gave it to me for Christmas . . . or, well, she caught me spending a lot of time looking at Les Pauls on Ebay just before Christmas and told me to go ahead and it'd be her present to me. Still working on it to make it mine, but nothing too bad to deal with. I gave it new strings, a good cleaning, repaired the wiring and insulated it to keep from rattling, and I'm thinking about retrofitting the open pickups it was built with. The original owner included them. These are some EMG-copy with not an identifying mark on them, top or bottom. Seller said they came from a pro shop in Canada but the "pro" must have been a house framer the way he installed them (the only mark on the finish). The bridge pickup has hardly any output. Neck works pretty well. Still working on it. Sounds great unplugged!

I always figured myself for an ebony Standard, but this one caught my eye. I'd been looking at the more recent trans-black quilted Classics but couldn't get past the all-black hardware. Just me. Nothing personal. Something captivating about the quilts. Like laying on your back and watching the clouds roll by. Kind of glad I didn't see these in the '60s or the pharmaceutical stupor would have had us staring into the grain all night long!
