On the low E string and sometimes the G string I will turn the saddle so that the flat side can butt up flat against the bridge to the stop side. Because on some of my guitars it's the only way to get those strings to intonate properly.

Yes when the screw is all the way down and you still cant get to the intonation you turn the saddle, but the whole bridge??
