Great aggressive sound unlike any other single coil or humbucker. The constraints are they pickup any electromagnetic field.
Lots of players love P90s and discount the noise as just something that goes with the territory. I guess it does.

and from what you're describing, the sound of the P-90 is exactly what I'm looking for (and I wouldn't mind the extra noise)
I'm not sure what price I could find in the open market for the Classic with the P-90s, but MF had it for $600 less than the one with '57s.
