I came up with the idea myself, but others may already have thought of it independantly it's not exactly rocket-science :lol

A friend made them for me from some 1/2" aluminium bar. Drill a 5/16" (8mm) hole down the middle and use a parting tool to cut them to length. Mine are about 3/16" (5mm) high.

Another way is to use small stack of 5/16" washers.

Another one I heard of was to put a piece of dowel into the bottom of the stud insert and tighten the stud onto it.

There are a lot of top-wrap fan out there too...
