My Les Paul Forum
Les Paul Guitar Forum. Gibson and Epiphone
Kirk Hammett busted out a very familiar guitar last night in San Diego. He used it on Fade To Black and Nothing Else Matters (if I recall correctly, I was pretty fired up). Looks like he hasn't blasphemed it with the ubiquitous EMG pickups, thank goodness.
Seems like these are going out soon. Anyone has any information so far? Just saw a few photos from the Facebook page.
One of my long term goals is to acquire a Jimmy Page reissue. However, it seems like there's been several reissues by Gibson and some appear to be more authentic than others. It seems like a big subject and I am looking to the expertise of this board to educate me.
Why yes, yes they do.
A friend of mine recently learned a hard lesson. I thought most folks knew that any kind of bug spray or lotion with Deet in it will just eat right though a lacquer finish. He now has an almost new Martin D-18 with some pretty bad damage.
So what we have here is a 76 LPC in a limited run Black/Chrome in stead of the more common black/gold. I have all the case candy, manual, registration card. Only owner was John Leland, bass player for Ike and Tina Turner band. They got a tour of the Kalamazoo factory in 76 and he purchased a Thunderbird bass and this guitar.
I'm without a doubt a high gain guy. The more gain and more effects and stuff I can play around with, the better! However, I've been gravitating towards my acoustics a lot more lately.
I just bought a new Gibson Les Paul Voodoo, and everything about it looks legit. The pots and pickups clearly say Gibson, the printed circuitboard says Gibson, and it came with the warranty papers and Gibson inspection card. But I noticed there is no "2017" or "2017 Model" stamped into the back of the headstock like most of my other Gibsons.
I grabbed this Melody Maker Explorer from the forum classifieds last month. I still find it hard to believe that I paid only $275 for this guitar including the soft case. I received the guitar in stock condition which is a pretty basic feature-wise. This guitar is just begging to be modded, and considering the price paid I figured its a no-brainer.
I've been wanting an R8 and have run across 3 that I like about equally (can't play them before buying). The 97 has 57 Classics, newer ones Custom Buckers. I want a real workhorse, one that I can gig the hell out of and that will take any abuse I give it. Do you have an opinion on which year I might lean?
